Help us fight this hornet.

If you see such a 'paper' nest with this hornet on it in the spring, it concerns a queen of the Asian Hornet, an invasive exotic species. This later builds a nest high in a tree and can then contain thousands of workers that pose a threat to biodiversity. In addition to honeybees, they devour large quantities of other insects.

So if you see such a nest, report it so that it can be removed.

Extra flight slot slat against Asian Hornet

Besides all the bait cages, trapping equipment, and clearing out primary and other Asian hornet nests, it's equally important to prevent hornets from entering our hives. A simple way to prevent this is to use a 375 mm (cabinet dependent) x 30 mm x 20(30) mm slat with openings of 20 mm x 6 mm, depending on the flight slit.

The hornets can't enter, the bees can defend themselves against other (smaller) wasps, and any dead worker bees and drones can be removed.
